WHY FOR THE INTERMEDIATE LEVEL?

escuchar los podcasts de radio ele es la mejor alternativa para aprender espanol y superar el nivel intermedio

Radio ELE focuses on the intermediate level, because this group needs this type of content the most.

If you’ve reached the intermediate level by taking a course or studying on your own, you probably already know most of the basic structures of the language, such as the most common verb forms: present, past tenses, conditional, and even the dreaded subjunctive.

A podcast like Radio ELE is the best option for intermediate learners.

Most intermediate learners still feel that they cannot understand native speakers when they speak naturally.

That’s why many learners look for listening material to improve their comprehension, but to do so it’s essential to be exposed to real content—not the kind you find in most textbooks, which rely on dull, inauthentic dialogues full of clichés and stereotypes.

However, the content normally used by native speakers is still too difficult to understand, and with so many options (TV, radio, movies, series, YouTube videos, other podcasts…), it’s often hard to know where to start.

What exactly does the intermediate level mean?

Radio ELE focuses on the needs of intermediate learners, which is why it can be an ideal option from level A2 up to level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

If you’re not quite sure about your level, I recommend simply trying it out by listening to one of the first episodes. If you can grasp the basics—not necessarily every single word, but the essential meaning—then this podcast is right for you!

Remember, you can listen to it as many times as you want, and each time you’ll understand more and learn more.

Give it a try without fear!

You don’t need to be afraid. Remember, the narrator is an experienced Spanish teacher who speaks at a slower pace with clear pronunciation, and who also briefly explains the most difficult words and expressions to understand.

Step out of your comfort zone!

Comprehensible input doesn’t necessarily mean it’s very easy. To learn, we need to listen to messages suited to our level, and we also need to step out of our comfort zone and expose ourselves to language that helps us move forward.

It’s clear that in Radio ELE podcasts, adjustments are made in the way of speaking, but the language offered is always comprehensible and at the same time real. It has to sound authentic.

    Everyone is welcome!

If you’re a beginner, you’ll probably need very different material with many more adjustments. This podcast isn’t the most suitable for you, but if you find learning languages easy and want to give it a try, of course you can. It’s your decision.

Advanced learners (levels C1 and C2) can certainly already understand some of the podcasts native speakers consume. If you’ve tried listening to the first episodes and can understand almost every word without difficulty, this podcast may not be the best option for continuing to learn. But if you enjoy it and are interested in the topics, of course you can listen too. Everyone is welcome!
